Scarves from Guatemala
Asociacion Maya de Desarrollo is an indigenous women’s weaving cooperative located in Sololá, Guatemala. The weavers are using the traditional art of backstrap weaving, along with hand dyeing of bamboo and cotton fibres, to produce wearable pieces of art including scarves, ponchos and shawls. What begin as a self-help project in 1987 for those who had been widowed by the political violence of the 1980’s, the cooperative has over 120 members today. In addition to earning a fair wage for their work, the co-operative has helped support development projects in the communities where the weavers live in the areas of health, nutrition and water and sanitation. Weaving
The material in the products from Asociacion Maya are handwoven using a backstrap loom, a very traditional method of making cloth in several parts of the world including Guatemala.
Organizer
Looks like a clutch purse when closed. Open it up to find various pockets and plenty of room for cards and more. Approximate size 8”by 4.5” when closed, 14” by 8” when opened. Strap is attached.
Travel Bag
Perfect for travel or for the walk around the block. Two inside pockets secured with Velcro, 4 places for cards, penholder and exterior pocket. Approximate size 8” by 6” with a sturdy strap. Available in various colours in cotton or rayon chenille.

Face masks
Masks have a single layer of handwoven bamboo material and a cotton liner and are washable and reusable.
